Mini Mugshot plugin released

31 July 2007

Today, I whipped up a WordPress MU plugin (works fine on normal WordPress too) that allows you to easily add a Mini Mugshot (previously known as badges) to any post or page. Grab it from my WordPress Plugins page.

The plugin requires FauxML to be installed and activated, as it uses its API.

I wrote the plugin after reading a post on the Mugshot blog (or, specifically, this comment) which suggested they needed a WordPress plugin for it. Now, normally, WordPress users won’t have a problem pasting Mugshot’s HTML code into a post or page, as 99% of WordPress users will have administrator access on their blog (thus they can paste unfiltered HTML, such as Flash). However, there would be no possiblity of this happening on a WordPress MU site, or on WordPress.com, as it’s too much of a security risk.

Thus, I wrote this plugin, with WordPress MU in mind, although it works fine on WordPress as well.

Cooking up recipes

20 July 2007

Well, the last week has been fun. I’ve been cooking up several recipes for GoboLinux, some of which I’ve contributed to the project.

As I blogged before, I made a recipe for TrueCombat 0.45. Also, I updated GTK-Engines, GTK-Theme-Switch, and a few other minor things.

Also, I’ve been working on a recipe for Urban Terror, which is a popular free first-person shooter built on the ioquake3 engine that started out as a Quake3 total conversion mod. Currently, I’m asking for feedback on that recipe, namely on issues like the proprietary BattlEye component, which is anti-cheat software.

I must possess Jedi mind powers, because I managed to get commit access on GoboLinux’s recipe SVN repository. There was a large backwash of recipes on the mailing list, so Hisham Muhammad asked for volunteers. I knew that I had only been contributing recipes for a week, but I did want to become a committer at some point, so I volunteered, telling him in the next 6 months, I might have enough reputation to become one. However, he gave me commit access straight away, which is awesome.

TC 0.45.11 alpha 4 released

9 July 2007

Okay, I’ve uploaded alpha 4 (96MB) of standalone TC 0.45.11.

Don’t ask me why I did it. Our uploading bandwidth is only 256K, so any downloads of it will kill the internet connection. If anyone’s actually interested in downloading it, please rate-limit it to 5KB/s or ask me to seed it with BitTorrent instead.
